JANUARY SOLANO PILOTS ASSOCIATION MEETING 2009 As you are aware, our first meeting will not be held on New Years Day but will, for this month only, be held on the 8th. We are trying to increase our membership to over 125 so please bring your friends and other interested parties. Our Airport is too important to give up. The larger membership of the Solano Pilots Association will bring strength in numbers. A unitized force to promote positive airport management and leadership. PLEASE COME TO OUR MEETINGS AND BRING A FRIEND TO INCREASE OUR RANKS. NO F.B.O. ACTION BY COUNTY Solano County just isn't aware of the impact of having no flight training, non-competitive aircraft services, no sources for aviation periodicals, maps, etc. The lack of services makes many question the management style, not only of the Airport management but County as well. Many great things have been accomplished. Airport funding by FAA is one of the claims to fame by our Airport Manager. Andy has also published his first "Nut Tree Airport Newsletter", just in time for the New Year. We congratulate Mr. Swanson on finally getting that small item out. We all encourage him to make it a regular part of the communication at our airport. We encourage all of your Nut Tree Airport users and supporters to let your ideas be known. Come to all the meetings, run for leadership positions in the local organizations, and use the resources of this website as well as the other Nut Tree Blogs. Let's communicate what is on our minds and work for solutions for 2009. Happy New Year to All! GRAND JURY REPORT (NUT TREE AIRPORT) RELEASED The Solano County Grand Jury
released it's report on the Nut Tree Airport this week. In the document
several items were listed as needing change. 1. Management needs to
develop better communications with pilots and public 2. Complete new Master
Plan to include a strategic business plan and an airport marketing plan. 3.
Connection linking Nut Tree Airport and the Nut Tree Retail development. 4.
The NTAAC take a more pro-active role with the Board of Supervisors, providing
agendas, meeting minutes and reports. 5. Amend By-Laws of the NTAAC to remove
the FBO member's vote. 6. More frequent meetings of the NTAAC. SOLANO PILOTS MEMBERSHIP GROWTH HUGE Since January the Solano Pilots Association has erupted from about 20 to over 90! The Board of Directors made it their goal to grow the organization's membership to 100 by the end of August. It looks good that the goal will be realized. If you are a pilot in Solano County, a user of the counties airports or have an airplane stored at the Nut Tree Airport, YOU SHOULD JOIN....SEE LEFT SIDE BAR TO JOIN.. Nut Tree Airport is the home of Solano Pilot's Association Welcome to the Solano Pilots Association's official website. Our goal is to provide support and be a voice for pilots in the Northern California region. Our base airport is Nut Tree airport (VCB) but serve all pilots of Solano County. If you are wanting to express your views considering local G.A. issues, have regular safety meetings, get in touch with other pilots, share your enthusiasm for flight with them, plan fly-outs and have more fun flying, come join us.
